Energy Assistance Program

The Energy Assistance Program opened on October 1, 2021. We currently have several opportunities open in this department. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to assist low-income households with utility and water payment assistance, energy reduction and education. Services under this program are provided in Lake, Porter, Jasper, and Newton County.

Quality Coordinator

The EAP Quality Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the quality reviews of EAP applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). In addition, the EAP Quality Coordinator may be responsible to provide outreach to low-income residents of the service area. The EAP Quality Coordinator works closely with the EAP Supervisor and EAP intake providers providing program guidance.

AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers often tap their wealth of experience and wisdom and channel it in new directions. A NWICA employee in this department may work with senior volunteers and perform office and clerical support for the program. NWICA hosts two AmeriCorps Seniors Programs, the Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion.

Program Coordinator, Technician

Program Coordinators will be responsible for overall coordination of the program, volunteer recruitment, management and training as well as quality assurance activities. Technicians will offer clerical support to the program staff and volunteers.

WIC

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) provides nutrition, breastfeeding support, health education and other services, free of charge, to pregnant women, mothers, infants and children up to the age of five. WIC teaches moms what to eat while pregnant or breastfeeding and what to feed their growing children.

Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, Clinical Assistant, BFPC Assistant Supervisor, & More

Breastfeeding Peer Counselors promote breastfeeding within the community and the clinic. The Peer Counselor recruits and counsels WIC prenatal and nursing mothers as well as provides breastfeeding support and education for new mothers. The Clinical Assistant provides clerical functions for the clinic.

Aging & Disability Resource Center

ADRC programs provide information and assistance to individuals needing either public or private resources, professionals seeking assistance on behalf of their clients, and individuals planning for their future long-term care needs. ADRC programs also serve as the entry point to publicly administered long term supports including those funded under Medicaid, the Older Americans Act, and state revenue programs.

Options Counselor, Technicians

An Options Counselor develops, implements, and monitors personalized Plan of Care in a manner that ensures maximum client participation, independence and self-determination. Technicians offer clerical and administrative support.
